We need people to;
Donate a building
Or the time to put it up for and auto shop
Or donate cars, trucks, trailers, campers,
Or moblie home for use in Mexico for mission work there.
We also need someone with a heart for missions to writting grants.
Or look for donations of food or other items for the children.
Please pray about helping here on the border
February 21 Thank you for standing with us for the past ten years.Missionaries sometimes have things donated to them in large amounts they can’t cross over the border all at one time. The officials either refuse to let it over, or charge an exorbitant amount to let it pass, which missionaries can not afford to pay. We store it here at the center, and the missionaries can take in small amounts at a time, each time they come in and out of the country for other purposes. Vehicles are also stored for short periods of time, as needed for the missionaries, or those people or groups working with them. At present, we are also in the process of constructing a network which will enable us to accept large quantities of donated food able to go over the border, and within a short period of time, send it back out to churches, missionaries, and ministries working the Fonterra, and into Mexico. Our goal is to be a distribution point for receiving supplies and getting them in the hands of the ministries. We’re currently in partnership, as a distribution center, with The Chihuahua Connection run by Rick Caywood, as well as other ministries all over the USA. On the receiving side, we have ministries on this side of the border from Eagle Pass to Del Rio, TX, to, and into, the deep interior of Mexico. God is rapidly opening up new avenues in this part of the ministry, with many more avenues available that we can’t currently take advantage of due to lack of staff. Please pray that God will send us workers with a heart for this type of ministry. We do accept clothing donations, but please follow this rule in donating clothing. If you wouldn’t wear it, or put it on your family, don’t give it to ours! Make sure there are no rips, stains, broken zippers, missing buttons, etc. We desire to be a great testimony to our recipients, as we are giving in the Savior’s name! Please pray for us.
The New Mission OpportunityWe are looking to start a new program to meet the need of the many that do not have the education they need to grow their work for the Lord. No required education such as high school or college diploma, GED, etc.. All that is required is to receive our training program which could be a basic program from only a few months, to an exhaustive, intensive and complete program of a couple of years, depending solely on the individuals initiative. We have contacted area schools and government agencies in order to get information about the need for such a program and we are finding that such a program would be a great help. One prime example of this evidence is simply that all over the state of Texas there are people that are released from prison and rehab everyday and their chances for employment are minimal. A board member of the Cornerstone Children’s Ranch is the second in command of the sheriff’s office of Val Verde county, TX Through him we have personal connections with the Val Verde Correctional facility. Others that may qualify will be persons from drug rehab or others on the welfare rolls that need training. With an opportunity such as this, they could be given a chance to begin their own business. We would keep records of classes that could easily follow them any where in the state. We are presently looking at putting up a 3000 foot steel building that would act as a vocational training center, offering auto mechanics and woodworking classes to qualifying individuals of any gender, at no cost to them. We have some teachers and some books already, but need more. A second building will offer computer education classes, nutrition classes, GED and Print Shop. This will also help the pastors in Mexico and lay persons in south Texas in order to make printed material for their work with the people. There will be no charge to the person taking the courses other than the time and money needed to get to the classes. Therefore, we will not have people saying the have no education because the can not afford the training. This will benefit persons on both sides of the border. Let me go into detail as to how each class will help our people: Auto shop will offer the basics of how to care for their car, (i.e. changing a tire, checking fluids and basic auto knowledge). That may encourage them to go on to college and get a degree in auto mechanics. Woodworking classes will offer the basics of how to build cabinets, put in windows and doors, and how to start construction of a home. Nutrition classes will offer cooking classes including the right balance of proper nutrition to help with the problems of diabetes and other health issues on the border. How to set a proper table and cater a party, which will open doors to a whole new world of possible jobs, and may spark the student to go on to college. GED classes will encourage our people to get more out of life than just field work or other low paying jobs with no future. Computer classes, and print shop will enable the students to qualify for jobs requiring typing and data entry skills, along with getting their GED. These classes will also encourage further education, and provide printed education materials for the children. We are presently located where there is no red tape with building codes, other than we must have septic plans drawn up before the electrical can be connected to the building. The money donated for the project will be spent toward the following: laying the foundation, pouring the slab, drainage work, construction of the building, finishing out the interior, and furnishing the equipment and supplies for each class room. We are looking for funding of over $400,000. We are hoping to receive donations from our private donors, as well as other foundations. We are also praying that much of the work can be done by volunteers. The funding will be put into a private account and dispersed as needed to complete the project. We will be willing to provide reports as needed to keep the donors informed as to the progress of this project.
We plan to contact local colleges about finding student teachers to teach these classes as part of their student teaching credit. We hope to look into this as we get further into the program. I feel that with a local college near by, and many in San Antonio, finding student teachers will not be a large problem.
The next task will be to find funding for the daily operational needs of this ongoing project.
We realize that this is just the beginning, and are just asking that you look at helping us.
contact us if you can help
